Discuss the development of literature. and science during the rule of Gupta dynasty.

The Gupta dynasty ruled India from around 320 to 550 CE, and during this time, there was a significant development of literature and science in India.


In literature, the Gupta period is known for its Golden Age of Sanskrit literature. During this time, a number of important works were composed in Sanskrit, including plays, poetry, and prose works. Some notable examples of literature from this period include the plays of Kalidasa, such as the Shakuntala and the Meghaduta, and the poetry of Bharavi and Dandin.


In science, the Gupta period saw significant advances in a number of fields. Mathematics made great strides during this time, with the development of the concept of zero and the decimal system, which laid the foundation for modern mathematics. Astronomy also advanced during the Gupta period, with the development of the Indian astronomy system, which was based on the idea of a moving Earth and a stationary sun. There were also important developments in medicine, with the compilation of the Ayurvedic text the Charaka Samhita, which remains an important work in the field today.
