OCEAN CURRENT

Ocean currents are like the rivers of the sea. Just like how rivers on land flow from high to low elevations, ocean currents flow from areas of high to low salt concentration or high to low temperature. This happens because warm water is less dense than cold water, so it tends to rise to the surface, while cold water sinks to the bottom.
Have you ever gone swimming on a hot summer day and felt a current pulling you along? That's probably a surface current caused by the wind blowing over the top of the water. Wind can also create deeper currents that flow beneath the surface of the ocean.
Ocean currents are important because they help distribute heat around the planet, which helps regulate the Earth's climate. They also play a role in the movement of nutrients and the migration patterns of marine animals. So the next time you're at the beach and feel a tug on your toes, you'll know it's just the ocean's current saying hello!
